About Us
Mark & Mandy Saxon
Mark Saxon has been involved in recreational fishing for over 40 years. His mad love of fishing took him down a professional fishing path from age 15. During this pro career he still fished for sport as well and was involved with several fishing clubs and associations in that time. During the early nineties Mark would go on to win many Rock, Beach and Estuary competitions on the south coast culminating in a 7th place finish in the Australian Fishing Clubs Rock & Beach tournament.
Over time Marks fishing interests were becoming more lure based and Sportfishing was to be his future. A few years were spent inland chasing Murray cod, yellow belly and fly fishing for trout in Victorian and Tasmanian rivers and streams. And a lot of trips up north targeting Barramundi lead him to the mid north coast chasing estuarine species on lure and fly.
Mark purchased Castaway Estuary Fishing charters where he now takes hundreds of keen fisho’s out each year chasing fish on lures. Mark is a qualified PFIGA guide and loves nothing more than teaching people the art of lure fishing.
Mark with the help of his wife Mandy developed SAX scent and it is put to the test on a regular basis, keeping clients happy on board Castaway estuary charters.
If you have ever fished with Mark you know he is one passionate fisho!
Mandy Saxon regularly fishes on Castaway and has many very notable catches to her name! Mandy is an accomplished angler, also a mad keen kayaker that regularly fishes from her Hobie for Bass, Jew and just about anything else that swims. Mandy has the knack of catching a decent fish when it all seems very quiet, with plenty of big flathead and jewfish to her name including jewfish over the metre mark. Mandy recently added a metre Murray cod to her list of achievements.
